To begin the year at Edinburgh College of Art, all the year groups were joined together and split into smaller teams of people with a mix across the years. We then set out to draw 20 locations around the city in order to then create an animation from it. Our group decided to arrange to meet each day and follow the guide of a leaf, by dropping it and then walking whichever way the leaf pointed. Here are some pictures of the locations we ended up at.
After we had drawn at all the locations, we had to create a film from our images. We decided to keep it simple and stuck to line drawn animations joined together by one moving line throughout. As I was in a group with only people in higher years, I was a bit worried about not knowing techniques and not being able to keep up, but they were really good with helping me and taught me how to use Photoshop to animate, and it turned out I was able to do most of the things we were trying to do for our film. The final project is below.
