This project was very different to the previous one (See Hear), but I really enjoyed it. We had to pick a poem to animate to, create an animatic and create a soundtrack for the poem. I decided to go with Robert Burns' 'To A Mouse'. I soon realised I'd aimed too high, as the poem was over 2 minutes long and I didn't have enough time to animate the entire thing. So, I created an animatic for this poem.
I then chose another poem, this time a haiku poem by Yosa Buson called 'Dawn'. The haiku is:
Fish the cormorants haven't caught
Swimming in the shallows
I really liked this poem, and so created an animatic for it too. I began with the simple, line animation to just show where things would be, then went on to add text and colour to the animation.
I didn't add a sound track to this animatic as I ran out of time by the end of the project. However, I prefer the animation without the words written over the top of it and so may go back to it and work it.
If I've learnt one thing from this project, it is about time management. I underestimated how long some things would take and left myself not enough time at the end to finish it to the standard I may have liked to do. I am planning to go back and work more into them afterwards.
